Akil Gonzales

My name is Akil Gonzales, and I completed an Advanced Diploma in Oil & Gas Process Operations at the Kenson School from 2012 to 2013, followed by Offshore Production Operations Technician Training from 2013 to 2014.

Prior to my enrollment at Kenson, I was employed within the agricultural sector as a production line worker but was inspired by a friend about the career opportunities in oil and gas after he completed the certificate. My primary challenges before enrolling were maintaining full time employment while attending school simultaneously and managing/ paying the tuition fees. Kenson made it feasible for me to balance a job and education with flexible payment options and part-time classes.

To those contemplating a return to school but not quite sure I would say once you’ve made up your mind, for a career within the industry, muster the courage, take the first step and you will we rewarded in the end. 

The engaging classroom environment encouraged dialogue among peers and offered insights from experienced lecturers. The Practical Simulator allowed me to apply theory hands-on, shaping me into a confident professional. In the ten plus years I’ve spent as an operations technician, I have moved from a junior role to a Senior Operations Technician working with large global clients within the industry. 

I highly recommend Kenson School as it was pivotal for my career.
