KSPTL’s Diplomas in Oil and Gas are the only programmes that are currently GATE Funded. Please read more about our GATE process below:
The GATE Application Process
Students interested in applying for GATE must recognize that GATE exclusively covers the programme’s tuition fees, and not the full expense of the programme.
Additionally, students applying for GATE Funding will also be required to pay a non-refundable GATE Application Fee of TT $500.00.
Thus, the breakdown of our fees is as follows:
- Tuition Fee: TT $18,000.00
- Non-Tuition Fee: TT $8,500.00
- GATE Application Fee: TT$500.00
- Total: TT $27,000.00
Note: GATE does not have a predetermined timeline for submitting tuition payments to KSPTL. Payments may occur within six months or extend over a year.
Therefore, students will be required to adhere to the payment schedule outlined in their Financial Agreement, and any payments made by GATE on behalf of students will be refunded accordingly.
KSPTL does not provide any exemptions to any current programmes, our learning outcomes/objectives and curriculum is uniquely designed and geared at competence in the oil and gas sector.
Our Production Operator Training programmes are affiliated with the Energy Institute, as such we are mandated to ensure that the minimum entry requirement for these courses is at a Diploma level. Hence, we advise a candidate without any qualifications to start with the Diploma in Oil and Gas which will guarantee entry to the Production Operator Training courses.
KSPTL delivers training through an online setting alongside most educational institutions currently. This provides an ideal setting where you do not have to be physically at our institution. We encourage students wishing to pursue our programmes to share information with us of their schedules so an informed decision can be made dependent on the individual’s schedule.
KSPTL does not have first hand knowledge of this occurrence however, if you have had an instance of this, we recommend informing us so we could make contact with the company to provide the necessary information to aid in their understanding of our programmes.
KSPTL offers two tiers of qualifications. The Diploma in Oil and Gas, once completed, will allow you to transition to one of the following Level 4 programmes:
- Land Based Production Operator Training Programme
- Offshore Production Operator Training Programme

Salary and compensation packages differ depending on the company, and is usually sensitive and confidential information. As such, we cannot provide specific information on this.
KSPTL does NOT provide job placement but we do provide you with the necessary training and competence development geared at acquiring a job within the oil and gas sector related to the programme you have pursued.
The experience of working offshore is different and varied for each individual as it depends on the position, company and facility in which you work. KSPTL offers you the Offshore Production Operator Training Programme, which provides competence training in the systems and processes in the offshore environment.
Within the oil and gas industry there are many levels and positions of employment. Additionally, there are many companies who employ workers. Salary and compensation packages differ according to the level of employment, the position one is applying for, and the company one is applying to.
