Uganda

The Kenson School of Production Technology and the Uganda Petroleum Institute of Kigumba (UPIK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 6th August 2012 making the Kenson School of Production Technology the conduit for all training to be undertaken in Trinidad and Tobago for students of Uganda Petroleum Institute of Kigumba (UPIK). The school also hosted the Honourable Jessica Alupo, Minister of Education and Sport of Uganda and a high-level contingent of four persons representing UPIK and the Ministry of Education and Sport, for one week from 31st July to 7th August 2012. Thirty-one (31) students benefitted and completed technician level programmes over the period 11th October 2011 to 21st October 2012. In 2014 KSPT has deepened and extended this relationship and enrolled sixty-six (66) UPIK students and instructors in Trinidad and Tobago to complete the following programmes:

  • Instructor Development Programme – Eight (8) UPIK Instructors were enrolled to complete the City and Guilds level 3 Advanced Diploma in Teaching, Training and Assessing Learning
  • City and Guilds level 3 Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Technician Training – 29 students
  • City and Guilds level 3 Mechanical Maintenance Technician and Drilling Trades Programme – 29 students

Mozambique

Through the efforts of the private sector the Kenson School of Production Technology sent two representatives to the Mozambique Gas Summit in March 2013 in Maputo Mozambique. The representatives were Mr. Blair Ferguson, Executive Director and Mr. Rodney Jagai, Academic Consultant.

Mr. Jagai presented a paper on Trinidad and Tobago’s success factors in oil and gas development which was well received particularly by an audience that did not know of the achievements of Trinidad and Tobago in oil and gas exploration, drilling and production.

Present at the Summit were the President of Mozambique Armando Guebuza and his cabinet and approximately 600 representatives of the private sector in Mozambique.

Nigeria

An agreement was signed with GITA Allied Solutions a private company with registered offices in both Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago for training for Nigerian students. Ten (10) students started and completed the City and Guilds level 3 Instrumentation Maintenance Technician qualification in 2013.

The Kenson School has been successfully audited by a Nigerian government auditor and approved to train students under the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme.

In 2014 another fifty (50) students were enrolled for six months to complete the following programmes in Trinidad and Tobago:

  • City and Guilds level 3 Electrical Maintenance Technician
  • City and Guilds level 3 Instrumentation Maintenance Technician
  • City and Guilds level 3 Mechanical Maintenance Technician
  • City and Guilds level 3 Mechanical Maintenance Technician Stage One and Drilling Trades (Floorman/Derrickman)

Peru

KSPT has been approved to assess and certify employees of the COLP Melchorita Plant in Peru under the standards for each strand of the City and Guilds Level 3 International Vocational Qualification (IVQ) Advanced Diploma in Oil and Gas (8510). This process involves the following:

  • Internal and External Verification
  • Registration with City and Guilds
  • Certification with City and Guilds

These exercises are scheduled to be conducted both in Trinidad and Tobago and Peru.
